Amanda Vallario, ATR, LPC, NCC
My name is Amanda. I am a Registered Art Therapist, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, and my Masters of Arts in Art Therapy from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Following licensure, I have received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I specialize in working with individuals struggling with grief, loss, and other major life transitions. I also have experiencing and training working with service members and their families.
I utilize an integrated approach to treatment which includes psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and creative expression. Compassion and empathy are at the core of providing caring to my clients. I have made a commitment to recognize my privilege and work in solidarity with marginalized groups in the struggle for justice. I believe strongly in the healing power of art. It brings me great fulfillment to be able to share this passion with others, as I also aim to maintain a personal practice of creating art.
Amanda is currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth.
