211 is the statewide information, referral, and crisis intervention service. Calls are free and confidential, and can be accessed 24 hours a day.

Resource Lines

  • Suicide Hotline: Call (800) 273-8255. Go to Prevent Suicide CT  to learn more about resources.

  • Crisis Text Line: Access crisis support 24/7 by texting HOME to 741741​

  • Reach Out CT: Call (844) TALK4CT​ to access a free support line run by mental health call specialists. Specialists listen and support callers or offer access to resources such as therapy, free food, infant supplies, or other basic needs.

  • Crisis Services: Available 24/7, 365 days a year

  • Self-Injury Prevention: Call Safe Alternatives at (800)366-8288​

  • Dating Abuse and Domestic Violence: Call (800)799-7233

  • Domestic Violence: Interval House: To reach the 24/7 Bilingual Hotline, call (888)774-2900.

  • Sexual Assault Helpline: Call (800)656-4673

Advocacy and Legal Services

  • FAVOR: Favor is an organization that provides advocacy support for families that have medical, educational, mental, emotional, and behavioral health challenges. They help families become familiar with their rights and learn strategies to advocate for their children. You can reach FAVOR at (860)563-3232.​

  • Center for Children's Advocacy: The Center for Children's Advocacy (CCA) provides legal services to meet children legal needs including education, abuse and neglect, and access to healthcare. You can reach CCA at (860)570-5327

  • She Leads Justice: A nonprofit organization that advocates for and empowers women and girls in Connecticut specializing in sexual harassment training, family matters, equal education for women and girls, work place issues, and discrimination. Call (860)247-6090.

  • Connecticut Children's Law Line: The Law Line is a free legal resource that helps callers understand the legal processes that involve children such as custody, guardianship, visitation, and abuse and neglect. They also provide legal representation for families. You can reach the Law Line at (860)232-9993.

  • Hope Family Justice Center: provides free wraparound services and care to victims and survivors of domestic violence, including advocacy and legal services, housing access, and connection to resources. Call (203)800-7204.

  • Statewide Legal Services: provides help for legal questions about family, public benefits, housing, unemployment, and other problems. Call (860)344-0380.

True Colors, Inc served the Hartford area community in providing LGBTQ+ support to youth and families since 1992. However, True Colors recently announced that they will be closing services by the end of 2021. You can still access their comprehensive resource guide here.
